The last outfit shot of me before my big move out of NYC...

I'm sure the city has much colder weather that would deem my outfit inappropriate, but it works for current conditions here in LA. I tend to throw on a larger piece of outerwear over a spring/summer silk dress in a sad little attempt to mentally hold onto one last ounce of warmer weather.

Thin summer dresses with oversized jackets and shorts with thick chunky sweaters... May seem silly, but when the mornings and evenings have over a 20 degree difference sometimes it just makes more sense.

Notice the absence of my belt after a few snapshots... I obviously have a short attention span to keeping my clothes put together.

WHY is it 90+ degrees here in California? I thought it was October... ten days from today a year ago, we had a surprise snow storm in NY. Now I'm here on the west melting.

mesh, mermaids and pier 17

I promise there will be "autumn" related posts soon even though it's about 103 degrees fahrenheit here in Los Angeles (killing me!). I'm hoping it'll cool down so I can wear a little more than a thin piece of something that may just be recognized as clothing. In the mean time, I'm still in full swing of summer clothing mode unfortunately which will look outdated to anyone else in the Northern Hemisphere. And if any SoCal bloggers out there are doing fall weather posts, I don't think it's possible that they're wearing those outfits for more than a second because I'd literally be sweating through it (not cute)!

Now on to the main thing... 

Here's a set from Fulton, pieces of the Financial District and a new outdoor seating area adjacent to Pier 17. There's a full size lounge chair that fits a few people at a time which I thought was a pretty good idea for those cuddle sessions with a loved one, and the view of the BK bridge ain't too shabby at all!

It was one of those days that was blazing hot in the sun and nice in the shade, and I'm basically wearing pieces of mesh and a draped mini.
Oh, what I would do for some rain and under 80 degree weather!

bye nyc ii: Canadian Tuxedo & Ivy Leagues

I've spent so much time here that I can tell you all the restaurants and what time certain food trucks hit the streets of Broadway and Amsterdam. Lots of walks and wandering, bad food and warm drinks on a freezing day. I disliked it as a school but loved it as a landscape.

Here's a fashion faux-pas (the good ol' Justin Timberlake + Britney Spears days) that recently turned itself around as a trendy fad: denim on denim PLUS the sandals I overused (you'll notice) since all 10 boxes of shoes were packed away a month too early... 

Hello, Autumn. Goodbye, Summer

My birthday lands on the autumnal equinox. And not only does it make a hell of a confusion when it comes to my zodiac (virgo & libra)... But it always reminds me that the days will get shorter and cooler and the leaves will change. 

One of the biggest parts of New York I miss is the transitioning seasons and running/jogging along the Jackie O. Reservoir each day and noticing the leaves slowing transforming in color.

Anyway, my absence on the blog is due to a new job in LA that I've been constantly busy with, and this marks a solid month and half since my departure from NY. So, to utilize my stored photos from the last bits and pieces of New York, I'm going to spread them out for the remainder of this month and the first week of October as a slow and painful farewell to summer and NY, and a bittersweet hello to LA and autumn. Even though it's still about an average of 90 degrees in LA when it's technically fall, it's nice to see my favorite and oh so familiar and comfortable backdrops of New York while I do these posts. I got to play tourist for the last month I lived in New York and took my time taking in different parts of the city.

In this photo set: the flatiron building and district where I am VERY familiar with. I commuted everyday and worked about 2 blocks away from the famous architectural landmark. It never got old no matter how exhausted I was from work. Much of my time here was spent at Eataly (a bit religiously) with lemon sorbets in the summer and fig sorbets and coffee gelato in the fall sitting in Madison Sq. Park no matter what the weather said it was going to be. I walked down to Washington Sq. and down to the West Village to my favorite Swedish destination: SOCKERBIT. All time favs: raspberry hard candies and Mick Jagger lips. I took an extra large bag to take to the west coast with me...

Here I am throughout wearing the usual summer uniform of white shorts, muscle tank and silk neckerchief. Hair slick back in a full pony tail and minimalist sandals.

If you're viewing this on your phone, you may have some difficulties since it's a bit of an overload of photographs, but I did my best in documenting (roadside & pit-stops) my U.S. cross-country journey. And these photographs are just the picks among the thousands I took...

This wasn't my first time doing the 3000 mile coast to coast road-trip, but the first time I did this, I went completely ALONE (yes, solo) and had no chances in taking photographs. Plus, I dipped down into my home-state Texas and the landscape plateaued a bit.

But here you get to see the landscape morph with each state I crossed. I also had the chance to view a humongous swarm of fireflies glowing for miles and miles and it was one of those bucket list/"I got to see this shit" moments but it was impossible to photograph (I have the blurry black photos to prove this). Let me just say, it was worth the long late night drive.

I know we mainly present fashion photographs on this blog, but travel is a huge inspiration for the already large realm of fashion. And you start to realize how big and varietal (landscape, people, food, etc) the country gets. Kind of forget that sometimes... I promise, on the other hand, that the next post will be 'fashion' related.
