cloisters

[I almost forgot these photos!]
Dreaming of better days and time spent at the Met and the Cloisters.
Notice the absence of my belt after a few snapshots... I obviously have a short attention span to keeping my clothes put together.

&

WHY is it 90+ degrees here in California? I thought it was October... ten days from today a year ago, we had a surprise snow storm in NY. Now I'm here on the west melting.
Not good for Mother Earth

* btw: I highly recommend visiting the Cloisters up in the Bronx. You forget that Manhattan exists around it! + it's free with your met ticket/button

bye nyc ii: Canadian Tuxedo & Ivy Leagues

I've spent so much time here that I can tell you all the restaurants and what time certain food trucks hit the streets of Broadway and Amsterdam. Lots of walks and wandering, bad food and warm drinks on a freezing day. I disliked it as a school but loved it as a landscape.

Here's a fashion faux-pas (the good ol' Justin Timberlake + Britney Spears days) that recently turned itself around as a trendy fad: denim on denim PLUS the sandals I overused (you'll notice) since all 10 boxes of shoes were packed away a month too early...

outfit no. 13 [ jules ]

While at the WWD Magic/Project trade shows, I thought why not do an outfit post.

Another NYC hot day immortalized in photographs.
Sitting out in one of my favorite places in the city - my special lookout post behind Naumburg shell and Bethesda Terrace - wearing Helmut Lang and eating two boxes of macarons.

Again, I'm wearing a bikini top... and the sheerest thin spun tank with a low back in an attempt to save myself from heat stroke.

The dappled light coming through the vines in said lookout post, makes the illusion of the sun raining down on you, and I miss this place! During the winter, the leaves fall off and all there remains are the twisted skeletons of the trees. I love it either way :)

wild child

In limbo at the moment and missing NY very very much at this point!
I'm excited to be back in Cali but at the same time, I'm homesick for my old home.
The outfit I'm wearing was the last picture I took inside of my old apartment, and seeing it again leaves me with a bittersweet feeling.
On another note, the lace cat mask?! I know with the Dark Knight film, catwoman is going to be the shizzz thing this year (especially around Halloween...), but I've always loved Selena Kyle ever since I was a little girl! It's my inner feline and my love of wild cats that fuel this fanatic behavior. Anyway, mental note for a DIY on the mask!

Oh and the little tid bits are: Loeffler Randall bag (brand spanking new for them), Givenchy shoes, YSL calla necklace (so cool) and a bit of inspo photos - indoor teepee, why not?!

Outfit details: H&M leather vest, Brandy Melville Kate Moss top, DIY shorts (painted and studded by me) & Zara shoes + my crazy-ass hair

outfit no. 12 [ jules ]

& I'm baaaaack!
Well, sort of...
I got some sort of an internet connection, and thought I'd put up a really quick outfit post before I lose it.
Since I'm hopping around everywhere and trying to find a new place to live, my current wardrobe has dwindled down to white tee, denim shorts and flat footwear. To some (not me), it seems mundane... so I will spare you the current 'look.'
So, while I wait for things to ship over here and I find a habitat, here's an outfit I wore on one of the hottest days in NY EVER. I remember, I had a gelato at Lincoln Center and by the time I walked 20 feet over to sit and enjoy it, half of it was soup. Plus, I have the searing sunburn in memory of this day.
Anyway, enough of my complaining, and watch me under the blazing sun, as I justify wearing a bikini top as a viable piece of undergarment and silk drop crotch shorts (that I like to call my diaper poopie pants rather than a harem)!

p.s. Aran's last post of the hats, really really wants me to wear a hat with crazy hair. Mental note for future post!

outfit no. 11 [ jules ]

Just a quick outfit detail from last night from Lincoln Center/the Empire Hotel.
I didn't take many photographs since I was more focused on having a good time. I spent part of the night on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel at the 'Liberty Belle Spectacular' which was a vintage themed party (I just wanted to be comfortable in the heat hence the shorts and top). It was SUPER packed and hot! I enjoyed some great jazz & people watching in all their outfits! Then the other part was spent lying out in Lincoln Center, followed by some late night Thai food.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July (in the US)!

white fray

I've done an achromatic post before, but this is geared more towards white denim.

White denim is often a hit or miss because it's not as forgiving on the body and shape/cut/fit is the key. The common misconception is that the the skinnier the fit, the skinnier the wearer may look. This 'rule' does not completely follow with white denim. Sometimes looser in fit is sexier and more appealing to the eye; if you must go tight and skinny (which is totally okay) less revealing of the body is more.
And believe it or not fashion 'rules' are meant to be broken at one point or another. Timing is just the matter.

Here are a good handful of images of white denim, white apparel, shoes, bags and decor (ghost chairs)!

Outfit post coming soon so hang tight, people
