It's that time of the year: COUTURE COUTURE COUTURE!

which means conceptual becomes reality and there's tons of pretty to look at.

I think we all know that on the side of the shows themselves, the street style is a spectacle all on its own. Most of these were from the Paris Haute Couture shows (these were just a handful from the many we found), and stay tuned for our favorite picks from the runway from the fancy fancy.

note: Miroslava Duma looks pretty damn amazing every time. Plus the rottweiler & the tall boots (Givenchy)... Lust - Every girl needs a pair a boots that resembles perpetual bell bottoms and Megaman all together!

roaring

I (Jules) have been dying to do a roaring twenties post for so long, but the amount of images is overwhelming when trying to sieve through them and pick out the ones to blog. It could not be contained anymore; hence the first part of our roaring post! 

I was walking pushed/cattled through  the Schiaparelli & Prada exhibit at the Met the other day and was itching to see more. On top of that, the trailer of The Great Gatsby movie that premieres at the end of this year was released and it's just one big giant visualgasm. And if you didn't already know Baz Luhrmann is the director of the film but ALSO directed the short film series at the Schiaparelli & Prada exhibit of Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada sharing a dialog across a long dining table. - Side note: Luhrmann also did Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge so expect extravagance and over-the-top, people. - excitement!

I've always been a fan of the 20's and have studied the lives of artists and couturiers of that era (E.g. Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Marcel Duchamp, Dalí, etc.). Dropped waists, bias cuts, draping, blunt haircuts, dark lips, cloche hats, jeweled bags & dresses, hybrids of geometrics/art deco and no restricting undergarments was a literal relief to many women of the time. It was a fantastic turn for fashion and for women to come forth as head couturiers of their own fashion house. 

When fashion finds its liberation, falling in love is an oversimplification of what we can only feel.

Beware: this is just the beginning of the rebirth of this movement... more to come!
