outfit no. 10 [ jules ]

 sharkfin

I was at an artist & craftsmen fair at Lincoln Center a couple weekends back when these photos were taken. It was a lovely walk while listening to a violinist play and seeing all the wonderful works these men and women display.
I'm not much of a normal blazer and collared shirt wearer. If it's a blazer, I wear it with a tee (the fanciest I'll go is an old band tee or something that resembles lingerie). And if it's a collared shirt it's either worn by itself in numerous ways or around my waist. I, on the other hand, enjoy play real-life dress up so I thought why not just wear something "not me."

Plus, I love patches! If you can't tell by my previous post and my elbows and shorts... and every single button is mismatched.
I absolutely LOOOVE the little stitched fabric detail underneath the collar of little scotties in red and white, and they echo it in the lining! - swoon -

i don't play with dolls

One of my top 10 phrases as a child: "I don't play with dolls."

That along with, "I hate socks" & "please don't make me wear that dress!"
Each year, I had a collection of unopened Barbie dolls at the end of every birthday.
My mother had to yell at me or bribe me (sometimes both) to get me into a dress or skirt and tights/hosiery were an added fee. My boyish frame and semi-permanent ponytail, never made it easy to look more girly. Plus, the dresses I had to wear were itchy, frilly and insanely floral (not in the good way). I used to pack a bag with extra clothes in the car and change on the way home in the efforts of relieving myself a second earlier from a dress. A true diehard tomboy and completely comfortable with it!

As the Resort 2013 collections continue to trickle in, I've provided a list of images below as some of my picks of mannish details. From athletic to refined, there's a good mix being shown down the runway to feed every kind of tomboy. And I am totally delighted because I am a huge fan of dropped waistlines and boxy silhouettes. WIN!

white fray

I've done an achromatic post before, but this is geared more towards white denim.

White denim is often a hit or miss because it's not as forgiving on the body and shape/cut/fit is the key. The common misconception is that the the skinnier the fit, the skinnier the wearer may look. This 'rule' does not completely follow with white denim. Sometimes looser in fit is sexier and more appealing to the eye; if you must go tight and skinny (which is totally okay) less revealing of the body is more.
And believe it or not fashion 'rules' are meant to be broken at one point or another. Timing is just the matter.

Here are a good handful of images of white denim, white apparel, shoes, bags and decor (ghost chairs)!

Outfit post coming soon so hang tight, people
