bye nyc ii: Canadian Tuxedo & Ivy Leagues

I've spent so much time here that I can tell you all the restaurants and what time certain food trucks hit the streets of Broadway and Amsterdam. Lots of walks and wandering, bad food and warm drinks on a freezing day. I disliked it as a school but loved it as a landscape.

Here's a fashion faux-pas (the good ol' Justin Timberlake + Britney Spears days) that recently turned itself around as a trendy fad: denim on denim PLUS the sandals I overused (you'll notice) since all 10 boxes of shoes were packed away a month too early...

I've done an achromatic post before, but this is geared more towards white denim. 

 White denim is often a hit or miss because it's not as forgiving on the body and shape/cut/fit is the key. The common misconception is that the the skinnier the fit, the skinnier the wearer may look. This 'rule' does not completely follow with white denim. Sometimes looser in fit is sexier and more appealing to the eye; if you must go tight and skinny (which is totally okay) less revealing of the body is more. 

And believe it or not fashion 'rules' are meant to be broken at one point or another. Timing is just the matter.

Because I hope these posts share some dialog and hold continuity...
Here are some slightly fuzzy snapshots taken after a lovely dinner date on a picture perfect summer night in Manhattan. I thought the outfit tied in with Aran's previous post on an 'I don't care' vibe since it consisted of the basics: white tee, skinny slouch fit denim & a snippet of leather. I threw on some heels (that have been blogged into oblivion elsewhere) and a small fancy-edgy bag to work with a night-time city feel. I took the boyfriend's watch for a spin just for kicks, and we might just have to "share" this one from now on. Please be advised that this combination of an outfit is destined to reappear in some form(s) again; there is nothing more comforting than having a great simple outfit to feel cool & clean. 'ya feel?

dungarees: celibacy trousers/farmer-chic (?)

When the price tag of a pair of denim overalls reach the price of $300-$500+ you know the fashion industry will describe it as: utility-chic, tom-boy cute, high-fashion farmer, refined rustic, luxe-grunge or whatever oxymoronic phrase with the addition of the word "chic" to dampen the loudness of the attire to help convince consumers/prospective buyers. 

I call it a nice healthy reminder of 90's fashion and I do not completely oppose the flashback since I honestly do own a pair from my 90's life today. Sports bra, heels, silk blouse, lace, leather, naked skin, bikinis, crop tops, blazer, tee... As you can see, the combinations are numerous.

Accept the challenge of wardrobe dismount/going to the bathroom
Not always totally justified, but why not? - Just do it better
